Mr. John Carlton Amerson, Sr., 78, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at Memorial Health University Medical Center after a long illness. Mr. Amerson was born November 19, 1927 in Stillmore, Emanuel County, Georgia. He attended ECI (Emanuel County Institute) in Twin City, Georgia. He lived most of his life in Savannah and retired from Union Camp Corp. after thirty-eight years of employment. Mr. Amerson was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Garden City. His wife, Verdie Aldman Amerson, and mother and father preceded him in death. Mr. Amerson is survived by one son, John C. Amerson, Jr. of Savannah; one step daughter, Charlotte Baker of Perry, GA; four aunts, Mrs. Martha Curl and Mrs. Syble Lamb both of Swainsboro, GA, Mrs. Inez Cooler of Augusta, GA, and Mrs. Dorothy Boatwright of Garden City; two cousins, Elizabeth Ownbey of Port Wentworth, GA and Lamar Amerson of Stillmore, GA; and his caregiver Dorris Walburg of Savannah.
