Born in Salley, he was a son of the late Levi B. and Susanna Huffman Abbott.
He was a member of Park Street Baptist Church and the Harvesters Sunday School Class. Prior to his retirement he was associated with the Columbia Police Department for 18 years. He was a life member and past master of Sinclair Lodge 154 AFM.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Betty) Reynolds and Mrs. Johnny J. (Ruby) Hollis, Jr. of Columbia; a son Henry B. Abbott, Jr., of Charleston; two brothers, Jesse L. Abbott of Blackville and Billy B. Abbott of Pontiac; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Park Street Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert L. Deneen. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Percy Harley, Earl Rawl, B. L. Lott, M. N. Cate, C. L. Isenhower and Charles McKenzie.
Dunbar Funeral Home is in charge.
