Mary R. Duke Belote, 76, of the 2300 block of Elaine Ave., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002. A native of Falkland, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Estelle L. and N. Maurice Duke. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles F. Belote Sr.
She was a graduate of DePaul Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1947, and a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Charles F. Belote Jr. of Chesapeake and Maurice D. ''Mark'' Belote of Cary, N.C.; three grandchildren; one sister, Novella D. Vinson of LaGrange, N.C.; a niece Martha Jo Stroud of Kinston, N.C.; and a friend of 58 years, Peggy Gladstone of Norfolk.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rosewood Memorial Park with the Rev. L. Wayne Carter officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, VA 23510. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
