Born May 29, 1922 in Guthrie, Oklahoma, he was the son of Albert Benjamin Major and Ethel Tressa Moody Major. Ernest was a WW II Army veteran and a longtime airplane electrician at Tinker Air Force Base. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lela in 1987; 2 sons, Donald Lee Major and David Major; 1 grandson, Larry Don Major; 1 brother; and 4 sisters. Ernest loved helping others; he basically "Took Care of Everyone". He loved puttering in his garage and collecting clocks with over 100 in his home.
Survivors include 2 sons, Leroy and his wife Nancy Major of Jones, OK; and Larry and his wife Glenda Major of Meeker, OK; 1 step-son, John and his wife Joanetta Randell of Luther, OK; 1 step-daughter, Myrna and her husband Ruble Garner of Oklahoma City, OK; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel, 5005 SE 29th St., Del City, Oklahoma, 73115 with burial to follow Military Honors at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, Oklahoma.
