Rusty Sahadi, 74 years, of South Toledo, passed away suddenly at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center on Tuesday, February 14, 2002. She was born on April 6, 1927, to Grace and Benjamin Franklin Carman in Martin, OH.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edward, with whom she celebrated 52 years of marriage. Initially they resided in Pittsburgh for eight years, but lived in Toledo for most of their lives.
Rusty was a member of St. Francis de Sales Parish and served on the South Toledo Neighborhood Council for many years. Through her council activities, she was instrumental in the installation of the traffic light at South and Broadway, as well as many other neighborhood improvements. She also worked at the gift shop in the former Holiday Inn Downtown for several years. Rusty enjoyed trips to the New England states, with Edward, in the fall to view the changing colors.
Also surviving are her sisters, Violet Pope and Dorothy Vore; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Carman, Sarah Brinker and brothers-in-law Mitchell (Elaine), Ted (Pat) and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death ~ 2 sisters, Grace (in 1943), Margaret Matta (1995), 2 brothers Benjamin F. Jr. (1991), & Donald (1992).
Friends may call at the Abele Funeral Home, 1910 Cherry Street (419-243-5161), from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, February 17. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, followed by the Rite of Christian Burial in St. Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. Final resting place will be Calvary Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 4:45 p.m. Sunday.
