Roger A. Kircher, 76, of Grand Island died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at his home.
He was born June 20, 1924, at Indianola to Albert and Ola (Elms) Kircher. He grew up and attended school at Red Willow, graduating in 1942.
He entered the U.S. Army in December of 1943 and served in the European Theater of Operations and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Marcella Yager on June 20, 1944.
He managed the Uerling Grain Elevator in Indianola and went on to manage others in Nebraska, as well as in Missouri and Minnesota. He and his wife retired to Grand Island in 1985.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, American Legion and VFW. He was also a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the B.P.O. Elks.
Survivors include two sons, Rex Kircher of York and Gary Kircher of Endicott, N.Y.; three daughters, Gloria Stett of McCool, Marcia Dubord of Friend, and Julie Cannafax of Kansas City, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gayle and Ken Kircher, both of Indianola; and one sister, Roberta Watkins of McCook.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella; one son, Thomas; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Following services, Kircher's body will be cremated with burial of the ashes at a later date in the Indianola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family.
