Andrei Marius Anghel was a passenger who perished with his girlfriend Olga Ioppa on MH17 en route for a vacation to Bali. He was a Romanian-Canadian second-year medical student at the Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca. In 2012, he graduated from the University of Waterloo in the biomedical science program. He had been living with his grandparents in Romania while attending medical school. At Christmas, he had last visited his parents' home in Ajax, just east of Toronto.
