Retired Tsgt Robert Lee (Bob) Burton, 75, a resident of Thomasville passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.


He was born in Davidson County, January 19, 1939 a son of Bessie Lee King Burton and Solomon Clay Burton.


He was raised in High Point and proudly entered the United States Air Force in 1956. He served in the Vietnam Conflict from 1967-1968 and retired from service in 1976. He then returned to this area and served as an officer with the Thomasville Police Department from 1976-1979. In 1979 Bob joined the staff of J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville where he began a 28 year career as a funeral director assisting families in the Thomasville area and surrounding communities.


On December 15, 1962 he was married to Dilys Irene Williams who preceded him in death in 2006.


Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to travel and during the years traveled to many foreign places.


Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11 AM at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville by the Rev. Garry Reeder and the Rev. Joe Parker. Burial with full military honors will follow at Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
