The author, Arline M. Browne, was a childhood friend of Arlene and Ruth in the early 1900s, back when Mrs. Browne and her family came north by train––took the dummy trains to Walloon Lake. Later Browne's built a cottage at Crooked Lake on the Inland Water Way.
