Born in Brunswick County, NC he was the son of the late OZ and Grace Hines Tripp.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years Leona B. Tripp of Ash, NC. Two sons: James Ralph "JR" Tripp Jr. of Ash, NC. Harold "Dave" Tripp and wife Julia of Ash, NC. Two Daughters: Jane Lynn Barnes and husband David of Supply, NC. Holly Dean Fulwood of Calabash, NC. One brother: Bill Tripp of Ash, NC. Four Sisters: Faye Simmons, Pat Long, Brenda Cribb, Annie McKeithan all of Ash, NC. Eleven grandchildren: Gavin Evans, Kala Bartley, Kinsey Bartley, Maddie Fulwood, John Fulwood, Isaac Barnes, Brice Tripp, Eli Tripp, Bailey Tripp, Olivia Grace Tripp, Ean Tripp.
James was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a standing deacon. He dearly loved his church family. He was a mason of Lodge #727 Shallotte, NC.
James will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Services will be conducted by two of the former pastors and special friends Tommy Fields and Bob Rea Tuesday at 3:00pm in the Friendship Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Azar Smith Cemetery, Ash, NC.
