SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for James "Jack" Chambers Williams, III, 86, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 5850 Buncombe Rd, Shreveport, LA 71129. Reverend Chad Hardbarger and Reverend Mike Stowell will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Springridge, LA. Visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Jack was born on April 12, 1928 in Greenwood, LA and passed away on July 16, 2014. He was a resident of Shreveport, LA and a self-employed dairy farmer and beef cattleman for over 70 years. He actively served his Lord as a member and a Deacon of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge. Jack was active many years in the Louisiana Farm Bureau Association, serving on its Board of Directors. He also served on the Caddo Parish Farm Bureau Board, serving as President of that Board. He served as well on the Board of Directors of Panola-Harrison Electric Co-op from 1977 to 2011, with service as the Board President for 14 years. Jack also served as President and Board member of the Northwest Louisiana Pure Milk Producers Association. Jack was named Outstanding Young Farmer in Caddo Parish in 1955 and a finalist in the state competition. He was a member of the American Legion having served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by parents, J.C. "Jim" and Thelma Williams; siblings, Lester Williams, Clyde Williams, Helen Norris, Carolyn Wheat, Margaret Grooms, and Mary Zeigler.

Left to cherish his sweet memory is his beloved wife of 60 years, Norma Lasiter Williams; daughters, Amy King and husband, Freddie, and Victoria Williams; grandchildren, Allison Lea Hood and Grant Mitchell Hood; great-grandchildren, Gavin Hood and Abigail Hood; siblings, Gladys McKee, Beth Stough, Gloria Hearn, Robert "Bo" Williams, and John Williams; numerous beloved nieces and nephews, as well as many other precious family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Stough, Gene Stough, Ragan Fair, Bobby Williams, Mitch Hood, Jay Holland, Justin Fair, and Ray McMullen.

Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, Mexican Indian Training Center, 7505 Pines Rd., Shreveport, LA 71129 or to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
