Dr. Martin Bani Adjei, 57, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006.

He was born Nov. 11, 1948, in Aburi Ghana, West Africa, to Daniel A. Adjei and Mary Adjei.

Dr. Adjei grew up in the Methodist faith. He attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla., with a major in agronomy, and earned his doctor of philosophy degree. He worked for the university as assistant professor of the Range Cattle Research and Education Center in Ona, Fla.

Dr. Adjei married Gloria Genella Stewart on Dec. 9, 1976.

He is survived by his loving and caring mother, Mary Adjei of Chicago, Ill.; his most loving and caring devoted wife, Gloria Genella Stewart Adjei of Arcadia; one son, Daniel Adjei of Arcadia; one daughter, Ohenewa Adjei of Arcadia; four sisters, Dr. Beatrice Padi of Accra Ghana, West Africa, Margaret Adjei of Accra Ghana, Juliana Adjei of Nsawam Ghana, West Africa, and Lucy Pare of London, England; four brothers, Samuel Adjei of Takoradi Ghana, West Africa, Joseph Yeboah (Rebecca) Adjei of Orlando, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel Obeing Adjei of Accra Ghana and Dr. Philip N. (Bernice) Adjei of Chicago; grandmother-in-law, Georgella Miller of Rochester, N.Y.; five sisters-in-law, Louvina (L.R.) Holton, Julia (Jeff) Perkins, both of Sanderson, Fla., Voncille (Foster) Bristol of Macclenny, Fla., Carniqueca (Willie) Simmons of White Springs, Fla., and Carla (Michael) Stokes of Titusville, Fla.; three brothers-in-law, Eugene (Marva) Stewart of Jacksonville, Fla., Lester (Earlene) Stewart of Sanderson and Kemmy (Tammy) Stewart of Lake City, Fla.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and special devoted friends, Tony (Sylvi) Dzegede of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; and devoted and caring co-worker and professor, Dr. Paul Mislevy of Wauchula, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel A. Adjei.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at the chapel of Hickson Funeral Home, 142 S. Orange Ave., Arcadia. Burial will be at Quitman Cemetery in Sanderson.
