William Roscoe Mendenhall, 76, of 1700 Washington Street, E., a native of Berkeley Springs and a resident of Charleston for the last 52 years, died Thursday in a Huntington hospital.

Mr. Mendenhall was a retired real estate dealer, a former employee of the Workmen's Compensation Department and a former supervisor of the old General Machinery Corp. in South Charleston.

He was a World War I veteran and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the MacCorkle Bible Class, Masonic Lodge 153 AF & AM and Beni Kedem Shrine.

Survivors: wife, Helena, step-daughter, Mrs. William P. Young of South Charleston, step-son, James Carrier Jr. of Schenectady, New York; sister, Mrs. Smith Harris of Berkeley Springs; brother, Paul Mendenhall of Berkeley Springs.

Service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Simpson-Chandler Funeral Home with the Rev. Percy R. Hagan Jr. officiating.

Masonic graveside rites will be conducted at Sunset Memorial Park.
