Mary was the daughter of James B. White and Catharine Marshall. She was married to Edward E. Britton. Mary was the mother of three known children:

1-Catharine 'Kathryn' Britton McPahail (March 23 1870- Sept 16 1957), married James Sumy McPhail (April 25 1867- Sept 15 1918) who was in the Spanish-American War- Infantry, Co. B 1st Regiment. He was the son of Maj. William T. McPhail and Lucetta J. Sumy.

2-Laurina/Laura G. Britton (Aug 4 1876-Feb 11 1958)*

3-Lucilla Britton (abt 1879)

She resided at 3003 Berks Street in ward 32.

*She seems to be the Laurine Britton who died in 1958 and is buried here. Her name was transcribed incorrectly several times and her death record gives a birth year of 1887 instead of 1877. Her death record also gives the wrong name for her mother- 'Cath.' would have been her grandmother's name. She lived with her sister Catharine Britton McPhail for many years on Glenthorne Road.
