Dr. Clayton U. Barabe served in the Army Medical Corp during World War II entering in August 1942 as a First Lieutenant. He served entirely on two hospital ships as a dentist and an anesthesiologist as those ships sailed the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. He made a total of 33 crossings on those two ships (one had a 500 bed capacity and the other a 750 bed capacity). He was honorably discharged at the rank of Major in October 1945. He was married to Kathy J Lorenz on 27 May 1939 in Tippecanoe County, IN.
