Mose Slaton Nunley was born in Tishomingo Co. MS. He was the seventh child of William M. Nunley and Amanda Jane Carpenter Nunley.

His first marriage was to a Mattie Bearden. They were married only a year or two and when she was trying to deliver her first child she died from complications as also did the baby.

He was visiting the Dick Hill family in Millington; Shelby Co. TN. when he met and married a 13 year old orphan named Alice Allen living with the family. They married 11 November 1888. She gave him six children who were the following: Walter Virgil, Oliver Perry, Minnie Alice, Ethyl, Elisie, and Myrell Dewey.

Mose married again for a third time to Myra Jane Monroe Lawrence Cooper. She had been married before and had three sons. Mose and Myra added to their children William, Della, Maudie, Napoleon, and Eunice Etta (Jo).

Mose died May 25, 1922 of tuberculosis. He is buried in the Nunley Cemetery that is close to the old home place and not far from the Carpenter/Nunley cemetery.
