Martin F. Andersen, 84, of Big Rock, IL passed away Tuesday February 23, 2010 in Florida. He was born December 1, 1925 in Aurora, the son of the late Martin and Rose Andersen.

Martin was the owner and operator of Andersen Wood Products of Big Rock. He served his country during WWII with U.S. Army in the European Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart Citation. He was a member of the American Legion of Big Rock, the Masonic Lodge of Waterman and was a volunteer for the Big Rock Fire Department. He also was instrumental in forming the Big Rock Little League.

He is survived by his loving wife Anna Marie (Jornlin) Andersen; his daughters, Becky (Bob) Sollars of Ohio, IL, Nancy (Stan) Sinks of Big Rock and Susan (Mike) Pannell of Somonauk, IL; his two grandchildren, Christopher and Daniel Pannell; his sister, Naurene Thomas of Palmetto, FL; one niece and two nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Andersen and one nephew, Larry Thomas.

Funeral services will be held Monday 1:00 p.m. March 1, 2010 at our Sugar Grove Chapel 370 Division Dr. Sugar Grove. Visitation will be Monday at the Funeral home starting at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Welsh Big Rock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the donor's favorite charity.
