Mr. Davenport was born in Charlotte, NC and moved to Memphis when he was 7 years old. He attended the Memphis public schools and joined the Army at the early age of 18; serving for 2 years in Italy during WWII.
Mr. Davenport graduated from Clemson University and worked for Ford Motor Company in Memphis and then for DIOEC, where he retired.
He was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church, an avid golfer, and friend to all he met.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Bowman Davenport and also two sons, Robert and Mike Davenport; daughter, Charlotte Davenport Holt; and grandchildren, Scarlet and Eric Holt.
