Lorine Marie Sextro was born November 22, 1911, the daughter of Theodore and Anna Wittrock Eischeid. She died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Twilight Acres in Wall Lake, Iowa at the age of ninety-five.

Lorine was born in Halbur, Iowa and received her education at St. Augustine School in Halbur. She was united in marriage to Frank (Shorty) Sextro on June 21, 1932 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur, Iowa. The couple made their home on Frank's family farm between Templeton and Manning and were blessed with the birth of eight children. She worked various jobs throughout her life, including working at the turkey plant in Carroll, at a lampshade factory in Manning, and as a Activity Director at the Manning Plaza in Manning, where she worked until her retirement at the age of sixty-five.
Lorine also worked as a midwife, helping care for many people over the years. She was very active in her church, having helped start and served as District Deputy of Court of Our Lady of Fatima; and was an active member of the Catholic Daughters. She also served as president of the American Legion Post No. 2 from 1970 - 1972 in Manning, Iowa. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, who's life revolved around her family and spending time with them. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bingo and Pitch, gardening, and baking homemade bread. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank in 1982; one infant son; four brothers: Leonard, Louis, Alvin, and Hilbert and his wife, Aggie; one sister, Mathilda Busenbark and her husband, Johnny; three brothers-in-law: Cato Gephart, Pete Fast, and Elmer Schreck; and one granddaughter in infancy, Lindy Jo Rasmussen.

She is survived by five daughters: Shirley Robertson and her husband, Larry of Lake View; Darlene Hjuler and her husband, Donald of Audubon; Pat Larsen and her husband, Ron of Peyton, Colorado; Mary Schneider and her husband, Dick of Denison; and Becky Rasmussen and her husband, Bill of Millard, Nebraska; two sons: Dave and his wife, Anne of Albia, Iowa; and Dr. Philip and his wife, Lois of Grand Island, Nebraska; thirty-three grandchildren; eighty great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters: Florence Gephart of Carroll; Louise Beckman and her husband, Cecil of Early, Iowa; Irma Fast of Windom, Minnesota; and Marie Schreck of Carroll; one brother, Ted Eischeid and his wife, Janette of Halbur; three sisters-inlaw: Mary Eischeid of Spencer, Iowa; Irene Eischeid of Carroll; and Darlene Reisberg and her husband, Don of Halbur; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on December 9, 2006 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Iowa. Fr. Paul Kelly served as Celebrant and Fr. John McGuirk served as Concelebrant of the service with interment at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Templeton, Iowa.

Laurie Plante provided the organ music for music selections, "Here I Am, Lord", "Let There be Peace on Earth", "On Eagle's Wings" and "How Great Thou Art" sung by Lorine's Family. Altar servers were: Summer Wulf and Sadie Harlow; Readers and Stories: Donna Lauritsen, Beth Namanny, Lorina Spies, Karla Sextro, Karri Dwire and Kristi Sextro; Gift Bearers: Lauren Plante, Jaime Oberg, Brittney Hjuler, Kayla Larsen and Wendy Schneider.

Those serving as pallbearers were: Jason Schneider, Alan Robertson, John Rasmussen, Paul Robertson, Dr. Greg Sextro, Ryan Sextro, Stephen Larsen and Mark Hjuler. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the Parish Center, served by the Ladies Guild. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
