Matt was a senior at Quincy High School. He was active in 4-H where he was youth counselor. He did speed and rodeo competitions with his horse, Mouse, the archery program and showed his welch corgy dog, Peanut, in the 4-H program. He belonged to the Giradr United Methodist Church youth program and was president of the Silver Spurs 4-H club.
