Businessman, Professional Sports Team Owner. At age 15, Glazer took over the family's watch-parts company, which was only worth $300.00 at the time, following the death of his father. He started the growth of his business by buying several trailer parks in the 1970s and later, became president of the First Allied Corporation, which specializes in the ownership of shopping centers located throughout the United States. His first step into the sports world was in 1995, when he purchased the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a staggering $192 million, at that time a world record fee, and turned the fortunes of the team around. Under his ownership, the Buccaneers franchise earned seven playoff berths, five playoff wins, and in 2002, captured its first Super Bowl championship. In 2005, Glazer purchased Manchester United Football Club. Since then, the club captured five Premier League titles (2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2013), as well as the 2008 Champions League title. Glazer died of natural causes three days after his 86th birthday.
