Leroy Allen, Sr., 82 of Elkton, passed away May 25, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Allen was born January 28, 1932 in Albemarle County, and was the son of the late Thomas and Regina Smith Allen.

Leroy was a faithful member of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where he also served as Deacon until his health declined. He was employed by Monger Brothers Excavating in Elkton as a heavy equipment operator before retiring. He also took great pleasure in doing odd jobs and working on small engines. Leroy loved the Lord and was a very humble man who was glad to share his faith with others. His life spoke clearly to all that knew him.

His wife, Maggie Davis Allen, preceded him in death on December 1, 2013. Mr. Allen is survived by a son, Leroy "Jason" Allen, Jr. and Anna of BelAir, Maryland; two daughters, Debbie Jean Allen Franklin & husband, Randy of McGaheysville, and Janet Allen Williams & husband, Vincent of Elkton; two step-sons, Willis Davis of Elkton, and Randall Davis of Louisa; three sisters, Marva Ray Cooper of Norfolk, Florence Wanda Scott of Maryland, and Regina (Jennie) Miller of Washington, D.C.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; caregiver, Gabrielle Williams of Elkton. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Allen, a sister, Oneria Jean Barimore, and two grandchildren, Oneria Franklin and Randy Franklin III.

The Rev. Francis Belle will conduct the funeral service 1:00pm Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Burial will follow in the Dovel Cemetery in the Bryant Hollow area of Elkton.

The family will receive friends Friday evening 6 to 8pm at the funeral home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Allen home at anytime.
