Rhoda Elizabeth Buck Prescott, 102, died March 21 at the Gardens of Pamlico Assisted Living in Grantsboro. She was the daughter of Walter Jackson Buck and Emma Keel Buck and was a lifelong resident of Grantsboro, Pamlico County.

She was the oldest member of Rock of Zion Original Free Will Baptist Church, where she faithfully served the Lord for many years. Some of her work included being an organist, pianist, choir director and Sunday School teacher. She was also active in the Woman's Auxiliary on the local, district and state level.

Her husband, Elbert Moye Prescott; daughters, Betsy Gray Prescott and Dorothy Prescott; son, E. Matthew Prescott; grandson, Bobby Luck; and great-granddaughter Ashley Wallace preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Phillip Moye Prescott Sr. and wife Beulah of Grantsboro; daughter-in-law, Carol Prescott of Grantsboro; grandchildren, Betsy Luck of Grantsboro, Barbara Luck of Keezletown, Va., Kathy Luck Steel and husband Jeff of Boise, Idaho, Pamela Prescott Ireland and husband Jackie of Raleigh, Phillip Prescott Jr. and wife Candace of Grantsboro, Nancy Prescott Dunham and husband John of Raleigh, Martha Prescott Gaskill and husband Dennis of Bayboro, Becky Prescott of Cary, Stephen Prescott and wife Lynn of Four Oaks and Mark Prescott and wife Sandi of Grantsboro; and great-grandchildren, Amy Steele, Matthew Steele, Sarah Prescott, Noah Gaskill, Joshua Gaskill, Jaclyn Ireland, Aaron Gaskill, Jonathan Williams, Phillip Prescott, Luke Prescott and Matthew Prescott.

Visitation will be held at Bryant Funeral Home on Thursday, March 24, between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Friends may leave condolences at the home of Carol Prescott, 1064 Prescott Road. The funeral service will be held at Bryant Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 25, at 11 a.m.
