James E. Tyrrell, 57, of Galesburg, died at 1:30 p.m. (January 11, 2006) at home.
He was born November 3, 1948 in Aledo, the son of Lyle and Leatha Devlin Tyrrell. He married Lois M. Timmons on July 13, 1978 in Knoxville.
Surviving are his wife; A daughter, Jenee Tyrrell of Galesburg; A son, Brandon Tyrrell, of Galesburg; A sister, Judy (and John) Elder of Alexis; A Brother, Jeff (and Karol) Tyrrell of Alexis, one granddaughter, and 21 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a bother, Stanley Tyrrell.
He was reared and educated in the Alexis/North Henderson areas, and graduated from Alexis High School in 1966.
He served in the Army during Vietnam from 1968 to 1972, earning the Purple Heart.
He worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 34 years.
He was a member of the North Henderson United Methodist Church and the Galesburg Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he played and coached softball in North Henderson, and was instrumental in the founding of the North Henderson Softball Association.
Funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 14 at the United Methodist Church of North Henderson, with the Rev. Delores DeArmond officiating.
He was peacefully laid to rest in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, North Henderson.
