Jettie Smith Taylor, 85, of 281 Michaux Road, died Sunday morning, January 21, 2007 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 24, at 11 AM at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Taylor was born April 26, 1921 in Pittsylvania County to the late Floyd Steven and Sarah "Sallie" Seymour Smith. She was a charter member of Willis Memorial Baptist Church and was retired from Dupont. Surviving: Husband, Russell McKinley Taylor of the home; Judy Taylor Alcorn and husband J. Haywood Alcorn of Ridgeway, VA; sisters Hilda Weddle of Cascade, Mary Heslep of Elliston, Brother, Floyd W. Smith of Martinsville, 3 Grandchildren, Patricia Dickerson and husband David, Cindy LaPrade and husband, Dean, John Alcorn, Jr. and wife Judy, 5 great-grandchildren: Matthew Alcorn, Sam and Zach Dickerson, Hannah and Sarah LaPrade. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening 6-8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Willis Memorial Baptist Church, 5212 Cascade Road or Cascade Fire Department, Cascade Road, Cascade, VA. 24069.
