Connie Mae Shook Patrick, age 104, of the Dutch Cove community passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late James and Martha Massie Shook. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest H. "Pat" Patrick; an infant son, Charles Elwood Patrick; a son, Ernest "Bub" Patrick and his wife Ruth; and siblings, Elwood and Howard Shook and Daisy Heatherly. Connie was a member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and had resided in Silver Bluff Village for the past four years. She excelled at being a homemaker; she loved gardening, especially her roses, baking, fishing, and traveling. She was an artist whose work included painting, basketry, needle crafts, ceramics, and doll making. For several years she displayed her crafts in the Village of Yesteryear at the NC State Fair in Raleigh. She was a member of Haywood County Home Demonstration Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Ernestine Medford and her husband, Carroll, of Canton; two sons James Patrick and his wife, Margie, of Rancho Murieta, California and Ron Patrick of Rio Rico, Arizona; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Scotty Patrick, Reverend Jason Miller, and Reverend Roy Houston officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 986 Country Club Drive, Canton, NC 28716.
