Married Sophia Arland Hamiton 20 June 1849. She died in China 23 June 1856.

Married Lucy Emeline Mills 11 January 1859 in Shanghai, China. She died 12 August 1865 in Rutland, Jefferson Co, New York.

Married Louisa Bertlett Judson 01 February 1866 in Galesburg, Knox Co, Illinois. She died 05 April 1924 in Washington, District of Columbia, possibly at the home of her son Alfred who was a teacher there.

Justus graduated from Hamilton College in 1846, and in 1849 from Auburn Theological Seminary.

After graduation, he left to go to the mission fields in Fuzhou (Fuhchau), China., and arrived there on May 31.

He wrote a number of books, some of which may be found (with complete text free) by doing a Google search. A search says he is most famous for "Social Life of the Chinese."
