Minister, educator and journalist. He along with Richard C. Coulter (a former slave) founded Augusta Theological Institute (1867), which later became Morehouse College in Atlanta. White was born to a white planter and a mulatto slave. Light skinned and blue eyed, he could have easily "passed" but chose to live as a black man. He championed Republican Party causes.
