Carl H. Wing, 85, of New Gloucester, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Russell Park Rehab. He was born in South Portland on May 21, 1928, the son of Costella Ryerson and Frederick Wing. He attended school in New Gloucester and Pennell Institute. During his lifetime Carl worked for Pineland Center, the City of Portland and the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department. Carl was known for his training and showing steers at fairs and always had a menagerie of animals. Carl was an avid dancer and could be seen at various clubs every Friday and Saturday night. He also enjoyed his morning visits to Cole Farms with the 'counter culture.' He is survived by two daughters, Tina Durgin of Gray and Karen Stone of Auburn, two sons, Floyd of Gray and Thomas of Portland, one step daughter, Shirley Sanchez of Pinellas Park, Fla.; several grandchildren; great- grandchildren; and sisters, Roberta Bodlovick of Falmouth, Marilyn Parlington of Aurora, Colo., and Louise Anderson of New Gloucester. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 27, at 9:30 a.m., at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland. Pastor Vail will officiate.
