Early Life: Betty May was born in Provo, Utah, in the historic Hines Mansion, on April 3, 1921. It is there, she was raised by her parents, Benjamin Franklin and Maude Olger Bowen Roper, as well as, her grandparents, Albert H. and Sarah Hunter Olger Bowen. She attended schools in Provo, including Brigham Young University.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Betty was also married in that same Hines Mansion, they were later divorced. When her children were grown, Betty attended St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Danville, Illinois, to obtain a degree in medical records administration. Afterwards, she worked at Utah Valley Hospital, Utah State Hospital and Cassia Memorial Hospital in Burley, Idaho. Betty May Roper Hunter peacefully passed away on April 15, 2014, in the presence of her loving family. She was 93.
Survived By: Her daughter, Valerie Haws; her sons, T. Kay Haws and Phillip R. Haws; six granddaughters; six grandsons; and 19 great grandchildren.
