He is my 5th Great-Grandfather.
He settled near the town of Liberty, MS (West of McComb), and was noted in the 1810 Amite Co. Census. The 1820 US Census lists a John E. Frith in Adams Co. MS with a total household of 19 (8 white, 11 slaves) which is near Natchez. In 1826, he bought land in Amite, Co. MS (US Gen. Land Records 1796-1907). His estate, valued in 1829 at $15,000, was left to his wife and children (Amite Co., Will Records, Book 1, p. 80). In his will, he leaves the following son John E.: 5 slaves, about 153 acres in Amite Co.; son William: 5 slaves, about 153 acres in Amite Co.; wife Mary: their house, 19 acres [to son William after her death]; sons John E. jr. and William: land lots in Liberty, farm animals, and the rest of household furniture; son Harbert: 1 bed and furniture.
