Robert Gifford Craig was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska on April 18, 1934 to Glea Stuckey-Craig of Eddyville, Ne, and John Walter Craig of Zaliski, Oh. He was the youngest of 17 half brothers and sisters. Though in his final years relaxing in the recliner while watching football or old western films was a favorite way to pass his time, Robert had an enriched life full of adventure. At age 14, he ran away from home to the Sand Hills of Nebraska, then hitch-hiked his way to Montana to enjoy the life of a cowboy. In 1954 Robert joined the U.S Navy and served as a 3rd class Seaman. After being honorably discharged, Robert worked in California for Pacific Bell and was later transferred to Idaho. In 1974 he met his second wife, Leree at the Palladium, 7 weeks later the two lovebirds wed in Las Vegas at the Chappelle of the Bells. The couple then briefly hit the road as long hall truckers. After their short-lived adventure on the big road the two settled down in Meridian, Id. Together Robert and Leree, raised a large family that deeply loved and cherished him. Helping to raise five unruly teens in the seventies was no easy task, but he still managed to keep all five alive! Surviving a stroke in 1993 Robert's ability to communicate was hindered dramatically, which changed his life forever. Despite his limitations he persevered and lived a great life for 18 more years. Robert Gifford Craig is survived by his two daughters – Lynn and Sandra; his wife Leree, and her three stepsons –Breck, Brian, and Bruce. He was also survived by thirteen grandchildren. Robert will be loved and remembered forever. May he rest in peace. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov 7th at 12:30 p.m. at Bowman Funeral Parlor 5525 N. Glenwood with Committal to follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
