He was the oldest son of Charles White Harmon and Clara Burton. He married Jewel Foster in 1946. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 10th Armored Division. He was wounded twice in Germany in 1945.


Known by many folks in Edinburgh as Lil' Ervin or Whistler, but to us kids he was the greatest papaw on earth. An awesome storyteller, he would mesmorize me as a child with funny stories and hard times growing up in Kentucky. We will love you and miss you forever, papaw. He was the greatest man I ever met. He loved animals, grafting trees together, fishing, inventing things, T.V. Guide Crosswords and Buttermilk.
