Donald F. McGarry, 84, of Toms River, passed away at Fountain View Care Center; grew up in West Orange; served in the U.S. Army during 1951-l953; lived in Shark River Hills where he joined the Fire Co. in 1960 as a firefighter. In 1970, he joined the South Wall Fire Co. and was elected as Chief in 1977. He was in fire service for over 50 years. Predeceased by parents John and Mary Smith McGarry; son Edward and brothers, John and Francis. Survived by wife, Betsy; daughter, Eileen (Bob) Munn; sons Donald; George (Heide); stepson Kevin; stepdaughter Mary Beth Hartman (David; Kerber; stepson Rick (Tammy) Hasney; stepdaughter Laura Hasney; 8 grandchildren; and many other family members.
