Lt. Colonel Fred Trickey was killed an airplane that crashed on Cold Mountain (same mountain as the movie) September 13,1946. Others killed in the crash were: Maj.Gen.Paul B. Wurtsmith, Lt.Col.Paul R. Okerbloom, M/Sgt. Hosey W. Merritt, and S/Sgt. Hoyt W. Crump.
