April 3-- Mrs. Sophia R. Smith, age 52, of Lyons, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at home after an extended illness. She was a native of Toombs County and lived in Lyons all of her life. Before her illness, she was a pharmacy tech at Plaza Pharmacy in Vidalia for eighteen years, and was a member of the former, New Branch United Methodist Church. She was a loving, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was happiest when spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, D.E. Collins and Linda McCranie; father-in-law, Felix A. Smith, and mother-in-law, Rebie James Smith.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Felix "Wayne" Smith of Lyons; two sons, Duane Smith and wife Becky of Reidsville, and Christopher A. Smith and wife Sabrina of Leesburg; four grandchildren, Drew, Ammiee, Hunter, and Emma Smith all of Reidsville; two brothers, Donald J. Smith and Sammy Smith and wife Sheri; and two nephews, Tucker and Tye Smith all of Leesburg.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Daniel Caraway and Reverend David Moxley officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening 5:00 until 8:00.
