William J. Turner, 87, died at home March 25, 2014. He was born in Richland Center, WI, in 1927, son of William and Lulu Jane Scott Turner.

He joined the Navy, served on several ships, then joined the Army the Army so he could stay home with his wife, but was shipped off to Germany. Two sons were born in Germany before he was discharged 4 years later. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He worked in the cabinet division of Long-Bell for many years. He enjoyed riding his Gold Wing and trips and camp outs, functions with the Gold Wing Touring Association And Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He coached Little League at John Null Park and loved league bowling. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing as a snowbird in Yuma, AZ, biking, baby-sitting grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In 1958 he married Ann Steiner, who survives, with two daughters, Carolyn and Elaine; three sons, Fred (Cindy), William "Rusty" (Brenda), and Don Turner; a foster son, Wayne Bacon; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his dog, Ricky. Deceased are his parents; a brother, Bufread; a son, Darrel; and a great-granddaughter, Erin Rose.

Services will be at 11 am April 7 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Longview. Interment with full military honors will be in Longview Memorial Park.
