James R. Allen Sr., 70, of West River Road, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Jim was born in Lewiston on May 31, 1943, the son of Reginald and Irene (Munn) Allen.
He graduated from Cony High School and had worked for Statler Tissue as a machine operator from 1961 until it closed in 1995. After the mill closed, Jim got his real estate broker's license and worked for Century 21 Alliance in Gardiner until he retired in 2001.
He enjoyed word search games, playing solitaire and researching the family genealogy. He also enjoyed very much, spending time with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers Kenneth Allen and Robert Allen, and a sister Marilyn Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Theresa Allen of Sidney; 2 sons Robert E. Allen and his partner Kelly Dube of Manchester, and James R. Allen Jr., of Sidney; a brother Richard Allen and his wife Caroline of Monmouth; 3 grandchildren Jeremy Allen and his wife Lauren of Augusta; Shawna Allen and her fiancé Wade Morang of West Gardiner, and Seth Allen and his fiancé Katrina Tong of West Gardiner; a great grandson Cobie Gray; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
