Mr. Richard Denning "Rick" Carter, age 65 of Bristol, Tennessee, formerly of Sparta, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Rick was born January 18, 1949 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Van Wesley Carter & Jewel Ellis Carter Jones. He was lifelong car enthusiast. He was a mechanic, body shop man and used car dealer. His two passions in life were his church Tri-City Trinity Pentecostal in Blountville, TN and drag racing where he was a regular with his 1950 Chevrolet on the tracks of East Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his grandparents that raised him Maie & Tulley Carter; brother Jim Carter.
Survivors include his daughter Patricia Jewell Carter English of Erwin, TN

Grandchildren: Devon Carter, Ryan Carter, Dalton Carter, Dakota English, K.C. English
Brother: Steve Carter of Sparta
Eleven half brothers and sisters
Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. David Lee England will officiate.
