E.E. McCarty

Meeteetse, Wyo. – Funeral services for Spec 4 E.E. (Eddie) McCarty, 20, who was killed Feb. 28 in Vietnam, will be held 2 pm Thursday from the LDS church with the Rev. W.B. Corlett, Methodist minister, Cody, officiating. Burial will be in Meeteetse Cemetery with military graveside honors.

Spec 4 McCarty was born March 2, 1950 in Cody, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris J. McCarty. He graduated from Meeteetse schools and attended Powell Junior College for one year. He was inducted into the U.S. Army Jan. 20, 1970, and on June 22, 1970, he was sent to Vietnam.

Survivors include the parents, one sister, Mrs. Joyce LaFevre, Carbondale, Colo.; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Dora McCarty, San Leandro, Calif.; and the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Larson, Meeteetse.

Ballard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Washington (AP) – Army Spec 4 Earl E. McCarty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris J. McCarty, Meeteetse, Wyo., has died in southeast Asia, but not as a result of hostilities there, the Defense Dept. said Monday.


Specialist Four, U.S. Army

On 28 February 1971, Specialist Four Earl Edward McCarty was serving with B Company, 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, SP4 McCarty died of an accident in a non-hostile action. His body was recovered.
