Bess Marie Henderson, 86, died Dec. 10, 1984 at the Colonial Manor in Albany.

Bess was born Dec. 31, 1897 in Worth County, Missouri, the daughter of Judge James and Cora (Findley) Gross. She spent her early life and attended the rural school in the Pine district in Worth County.

On March 4, 1922, she married Wade Henderson and lived the remainder of her life in Albany, Mo. To this union three sons were born, one of whom died in infancy. She was very active in church and several club organizations being a member of the First Christian Church of Albany. Failing health caused her to reduce her activities in both the church and clubs.

In 1924 Bess and Wade moved to Albany when Wade became the manager of The Farmers Exchange.

Bess served as dietician in the Albany school system for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, William; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Jonagan, Mrs. Grace Murray and Mrs. William Todd; two brothers, Jacob H. Gross and Ralph Gross.

She is survived by two sons, James M. Henderson of Granite City, Ill., and Lovitt W. Henderson of Murrysville, Pa.; six grandchildren, Ann Tonks of London, England, Henry Henderson of Chicago, Ill., and Laura Papso, Todd Henderson, Dayna and Vivian Henderson, all of Murrysville, Pa.; two nieces, Florence Kyes, Hay Fork, Calif., and Marjorie Manfull, Llano, Calif.; many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held Dec. 12, 1984 at the Grandview Cemetery under the direction of the Quinley-Roberson-Polley Funeral Home with the Rev. John Yarosevich officiating.

Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church, Albany.
