The son of John Theodore Besaw and Golda L. "Goldie" Schumacker, Victor served in the United States armed forces during World War II.

He worked as a teacher for the Northwest District in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. He retired in 1979.

At the time of his death at Weiss Memorial Hospital, Victor was 68 years, 8 months and 12 days old.

He was survived by 2 brothers, Harold Besaw of White Hall, Illinois, and Earl Besaw of Reno, Nevada.

Visitation was held on 24 Mar 1985 at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville, Jersey County, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted there at 2 p.m. the following afternoon.
