Betty May Atkins 89 of Springfield, formerly of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in St. John's Hospital.
She was born February 22, 1925 in Decatur, the daughter of Herman and Gertrude (Parrish) Herring. She married Edward F. Atkins on June 8, 1946. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are her son, John (Toni) Atkins; daughter, Dawn (Harold) Swank; brothers, Danny (Rosie) Herring, Howard (Bobbie) Herring and Russell Herring; sister, Virginia Kempher; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was a retired personnel director for Sears and Robuck Co.
