Irene Mildred Wiesner, 96, of Rice Lake died Nov. 26 at Lakeview Medical Center. Funeral services wre Saturday afternoon at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, with the Rev. Chester Hoversten officiating and burial at Wiesner Cemetery in the Town of Stanfold. Visitaiton was Friday from 4-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Women of the Moose service at Jarocki Funeral Home in Rice Lake and Saturday at the church for 1 hour before the service.

Mrs. Wiesner was born Aug. 25, 1909 in Rice Lake to Anton and Mary (Novotny) Wilda. She attended Ben Franklin Rural School in the Town of Bear Lake and married Edwin Wiesner in Rice Lake on June 1, 1927. The couple farmed in the Bruce area and then farmed in the Rice Lake area until moving to Arizona in 1951. They returned after 1 year and farmed in the Town of Stanfold until 1960, when they sold the farm and bought the A&W Root Beer stand in Birchwood. The Wiesners operated the business until retiring in 1965 and returning to Rice Lake. Mrs. Wiesner moved to Red Cedar Apartments after the death of her husband and lived there until July. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and enjoyed gardening, sewing, card games, visiting and watching western movies on television.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Whitney of Rice Lake; a son LaVerne; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Othelia Geary and Vi Ingwell, both of Rice Lake, Evelyn Chirhart of Barron and Vivian Jager of Buchanan, Mich.; and a brother, Lynn of South Bend, Ind.

Mrs. Wiesner’s son Gordon also preceded her in death.
