James Andrew McCulley is the son of John McCulley and Catherine VanEman McCulley.
He graduated from College at the age of 22 and settled in Steubenville, Ohio, where he began the practice of medicine. In 1865 he and his family moved to Benton County, Iowa where he was a wonderful country Doctor for 30 years.
He married Mary Ann McCally September 23, 1841.
