Mr. Paul Jennings Stewart, McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native, 84, was born February 26, 1928 and died March 29, 2012 at home after an extended illness. A retired lineman foreman with McMinnville Electric System for 41 years, he served as a county commissioner for Warren County for 16 years. A deacon and member of New Union The Baptist Church in Smithville, TN, he was the son of the late Hobart and Pauline Cantrell Stewart. He was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Ruth Stewart (Mel) Maxwell and Katie Stewart (Wayne) Tomlin. He was married October 20, 1945 to Inez Cope Stewart.
In addition to his wife Inez, he is survived by two daughters, Betty Elaine Stewart (Bob) Alsup and Jennie Annette Stewart, both of McMinnville, TN, two sons, Danny Paul (Lynette) Stewart of Chattanooga, TN and Kenneth "Kenny" Dale Stewart of McMinnville, six grandchildren, Paula (Terry) Wanamaker, Alison (Mike) Cummins, Kirby (Wes) Williams, Regan Stewart, and Ramsey Stewart all of McMinnville, and Jennifer (Justin) Boyd of Murfreesboro, TN, eight great-grandchildren Salem and Carter Wanamaker, Arden and Channing Cummins, Mylie and Lilla Boyd, and Connor and Kate Williams, sisters Maddie Sue Vaughn and Florence Keaton of McMinnville, and brothers George Martin Stewart and Sid (Sophie) Stewart of McMinnville.

Funeral service is 2 P.M. Saturday, March 31, 2012, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Darrell Cantrell and Bro. Bransford England will officiate. Interment will follow at New Union Cemetery. The Stewart Family will receive friends Friday from 5 P.M. until 9 P.M. and again Saturday from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.

Past and present employees of McMinnville Electric System are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers.
