David Roy McCoy, Q.M.C, U.S.N retired, of Norfolk, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord, Jesus, on March 5, 2014.

A devout Christian, he spent 21 years serving in the United States Navy, becoming both a Vietnam and Gulf War veteran during his time. He followed his Military service with a career as a maritime engineer.

He truly lived life without an enemy, with a larger than life personality that immediately endeared him to anyone he met. He will always be remembered, loved and missed by those who survive him and knew him. He unquestionably gave us love, guidance, and a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen with an uplifting smile and a boisterous laugh.

Son of David and Wilma

Survived by his wife, Cheryl; sons, Ryan, Roy, and Matthew; grandson, Dominick (Nikki); sisters, Molly, Vicki, Barbara and Cyndi Lou; brother, Michael; and his favorite dog Kiki; a large family who loved him dearly of nieces, nephews, cousins and brothers and sisters in law.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. The funeral will be held on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
