HAMLET, N.C. — Nelson Willard Parrish Jr., 67, of Hamlet, died Friday, March 7, 2014 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

He was born January 3, 1947 in Marlboro County, South Carolina a son of the late Nelson Willard Parrish, Sr. and Elizabeth Nolan Parrish.

Mr. Parrish retired from Harris Teeter after 34 years of service as a Meat Market Manager. Willard was an avid outdoorsman.

Surviving are: His wife of 48 years, Sarah Carter Parrish, of the home; daughters, Tracey Parrish of Hamlet and Susie Smith and husband James, of Hamlet; grandchildren, Hannah Hester and husband Chip, of Wallace, S.C. and Kimberly Smith, of Hamlet; great-grandson, William Christopher Smith; a sister, Renee Cass and husband Lenny, of Greenville, S.C.; and a brother, Wayne Parrish and wife Patricia, of Rockingham.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 10 at Richmond County Memorial Park.
