Florence Virginia Walker of Kahoka died Thursday evening, December 29, at the Clark County Nursing Home. She was 78.

The daughter of Thara Abbott and Luella Cook Barrows, she was born November 29, 1899 in Clark County.

She married Ray Walker March 27, 1920 in West Point, Illinois and he survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Craig Walker of Kahoka, Warren Walker of Pacoima, California, one daughter, Mrs. Russell (Betty) Kreft of Louisville, Kentucky, one brother, Wayne Barrows of Evansville, Indiana, three sisters, Mrs. Stella Colter and Mrs. Mabel Schuster of Wyaconda, and Mrs. Margaret Westbrook of Lancaster, Missouri, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Mrs. Walker attended the Kirksville Normal School, and taught school in Clark County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kahoka and was correspondent for the Gazette-Herald for Clark County Nursing Home news.

Services were Monday, January 2, at Wilson Funeral Home with burial in Kahoka Cemetery. Rev. Marvin Jacobs officiated at the services, and organist was Mrs. Margaret Davis. Pallbearers were Stuart Wood, Dean Wood, Dale Wood, Leland Schuster, Roland Guy Barrows, and Donald Walker, all nephews.
