His first wife Louisa Lamb died in England in 1791, the same year as his infant son. He came to America the following year, arriving in New York on September 5, 1792.

His eldest daughter Louise Marie de Noaille Sophie Hewitt was born September 4, 1797 and was baptized at Trinity Church, Wall Street, New York on October 10, 1797 by Benjamin Moore.

No other record of her existence can be found. She may have died in childhood but the archives of Trinity Church, where she and her 6 younger siblings were all baptized, there is no record of her death or burial.
